If you are not new here, then Lifestyle Honors is not a new phrase and you know exactly what I’m bout to get into here! However, if you are new and aren’t familiar; you could checkout last year’s article or you can just continue reading.
To make a long story short, Lifestyled Honors was a weekend celebration created and produced by Maui Bigelow of Phat Girl Fresh to honor women who are breaking barriers in their careers and personal life. In addition to the women being honored with awards; there are fashion shows to showcase and celebrate the bodies of fat, plus, curvy women.
This year Lifestyled Honors kicked off with it’s traditional all white party but this year with a different name: Curves En Blanc. The location remained at the Suite Lounge Roof Top where the cream of the crop in fashion & style showed up to network and party.

After partying hard we all managed to gather ourselves together for Day 2 of Lifestyled Honors. The women being honored this year varied from digital influencers to local government employees. It was a diverse collection of women all influencing and impacting their communities.
What makes the awards even more special is that Maui selects presenters to introduce the honorees that know these women well. The introductions are beautiful, heartfelt expressions from the people who’s lives have been impacted by the honorees. It is an amazing and beautiful thing to see women build each other up with kind words and appreciation.
However, this year Maui broke tradition by honoring a man for the first time during the ceremony. Michael Moss of Big Man Culture was honored for breaking barriers in the big and tall men community.
If you were able to make it through the tears (because yes many of us in the audience were touched); you had the pleasant experience of watching independent designers, boutique owners, and big box brand looks come sashaying down the runway. This year inline with inclusion of the big and tall man; there was male fashion on the runway too.
Brands that walked the runway included: Eloquii, Ego Boutique, Arden’s Closet by Nedra Phillips, Curverra, CAAB & Wrap Girl Magic Collaboration, Big Man Culture, Livi Rae Lingerie, and A+ LA.
Of course, the fun wasn’t just on the runway and in the presentation of awards! Attendees got the opportunity to shop with the vendors who came to grace LSH 2019. Vendors included:
You know what else was fun? The giveaways! Gold Sponsor Lane Bryant provided gift cards to be won by LSH attendees. How did they win them? With a dance off of course! Not to be outdone, Francie Maupin aka Miss Diva Kurves, honoree and host of Atlanta’s Swim Thick Annual Pool party decided to giveaway tickets to this year’s pool party. How did they have to compete? With a runway face off! Members from the audience got the opportunity to strut their stuff on the catwalk. It was like getting a whole new fashion show!
An amazing time was had by all! If you were there and you say you didn’t you are definitely telling a lie! I always appreciate being surrounded by bodies that look like mine, all in one room and being celebrated for what they are in the moment and not what society thinks they could be!
I love that Maui is an influencer who has decided to create a safe space for fat, plus or curvy bodies (however you identify) to exist without the stress of worrying about being the only one in the room who’s body isn’t straight size.
Special thanks to Lifestyled Honors Sponsors & Media Partners who had a hand in making this event as awesome as it was: Lane Bryant, Eloquii, Fashion to Figure, Carol’s Daughter, Pretty for a Big Gurl, The CurvyCon ,Howell Designs, 4thGenCreations, and P. Dillon Photography, The Curvy Fashionista, Madame Noire, Kirklan Hawes and Jonathan Vickers.
Before I close out I would be remiss in not sharing the details of my looks for the weekend so without further ado:
I don’t know what Maui has in store for us next year at Lifestyled Honors; but whatever it is I know it’s going to be dope!
